To our surprise, the RC6-Freedom handheld controller has become the most popular way to control RC6 systems.  The basic unit without application-specific controls provides and LCD display, four user-interface pushbuttons, and a large “deadman” momentary pushbutton.

The remaining space on the top surface is then customized for a specific project.

The units shown here are used in a major Broadway musical.  At the top is a two-axis continuous joystick of the same kind used on high-end personal mobility vehicles.  Between the LCD and the deadman button are two rotary controls.  The joystick controls speed and direction of a moving set piece.  The rotary controls set acceleration/deceleration rate, and top speed.
