DMX2dim 2-Channel Wireless Dimmer

Reliable, feature-filled wireless DMX and dimming for lighting, props, costumes, and scenery.

The DMX2dim is the smallest wireless dimmer in the world.  Barely larger than a matchbox, it includes a built-in radio receiver and two  low-voltage pulse-width-modulation dimmers. Any number of DMX2dim receiver-dimmers can be used in an RC4Magic Series 2 system.

The radio receiver operates identically to the DMXio in receiver mode.

Screw terminals are provided for connection of the power supply (+/-DC IN) and load devices (+/-DimA and +/-DimB). The supply powers both the internal electronics and the connected loads. Dimmers switch on the negative side of the circuit.

The new DMX2dimR3 is new in 2011 and provides several enhancements of previous versions.  The external fuse has been eliminated, and the maximum input voltage has been increased from 18V to 24V.

All RC4Magic Series 2 dimmers are configured using the same unique method.  To design versatile devices that are this small, space must be carefully managed.  Multiple rows of dipswitches or rotary controls would consume far too much room.  Our method of assigning DMX channels is simple:

Connect a DMX controller to your DMXio transmitter.  This puts an entire DMX universe out on the airwaves.  Bring up one DMX channel you would like to assign to one or more dimmers.  While that channel is up, press the Set button on the target dimmer.  Different dimmer curves are selected by the level of the channel, so you can choose between non-dim, linear, fast inverse square law (Fast ISL) or slow ISL.  The dimmer remembers your settings forever, until you decide to change them.  There is no limit to how many dimmers can be assigned to the same channel.  Different dimmers can utilize different or the same curves.  Multiple dimmers on the same device do not need to be assigned to consecutive channels.

Selecting a DMX Channel for DMX2dim Dimmer A

The internal temperature of the DMX2dim increases with input voltage.  When operating in a high ambient temperature and/or limited ventilation, internal over-temperature protection may eventually engage, causing one or both dimmer channels to temporarily turn off.  See our FAQ and Support pages for additional information.

If you require a DC dimmer that delivers high power at 24V for a prolonged period, please consider the DMX4dim-500, which features a high-efficiency internal voltage regulator and a small quiet cooling fan to avoid thermal shutdown.
