I. The DMXio has multiple levels of RF power output
A. Maximum isn’t always the best setting
B. RC4Magic provides 5 levels of RF power, but only 3 levels can be accessed using the buttons on an RC4Magic DMXio
1. These choices are low, middle and high
2. The default is high
3. The highest power isn’t always necessary
4. The full range of power levels is accessible using RC4 Commander software
II. Setting RF power level on the DMXio
A. Make sure the unit is powered on
B .Plug in a DMX cable
1. This tell Auto Mode to put the unit in transmit modeTransmit modeIn transmit, or transmission mode, data from an RC4 device is sent to another device, like a remote receiver or dimmer device. In RC4Magic systems, a DMXio transceiver can be in either transmit or receive mode. A pair of devices, one in each mode, replaces a physical DMX cable.

a. The DMXio must be in transmit mode, either manually set or invoked by Auto Mode
C. The red RF power indicator on the unit will be blinking
1. The blinking speed of the RF power LED indicates the selected RF power level
2. In high RF mode, the red LED on the unit will blink rapidly
3. RF power is a “shift” feature on the unit, meaning the Function buttonFunction buttonEvery RC4 Harmonized Design™ device provides a Function button, sometimes called the Func, Shift or Shift/Func button, to increase the number of available functions available with the other buttons. The Func button also invokes CodeLoader mode when held down during power-up.

D. Increment the RF power setting by pressing Function/RF power:
1. Using a small tool like a bent paper clip, push and hold the Function button on the DMXio
2. Using a second bent paper clip, push and release the on the DMXio (the same as the RX/TX/Auto button, which is not a shift feature)
3. Release the Function button
4. This entire 2-button process should be completed in less than 3 seconds to avoid invoking a long-press feature on the Function button.
G. When at the highest RF power level, the next increment will revert to the lowest
1. The red LED will blink slowly, indicating the lowest RF power
H. Repeat the process to step up to the middle RF power level
1. In middle RF mode, the red LED will blink at moderate speed
I. Repeat the process to step up to the the high RF power level
1. In high RF mode, the red LED will blink rapidly
J. This setting is remembered by the unit, and when powered off and turned on again, it will default to the last RF setting that was chosen
1. When powering up, it will take a few seconds for Auto Mode to recognize the DMX input signal, invoke transmit mode, and begin indicating RF power on the red indicator
