Multiple Voltages Info
We originally intended our power regulator circuitry to work reliably down to 5V. In the field, it’s been determined that under some conditions — particularly with smaller current-limited power sources — that startup at 5V sometimes fails. But once it starts, it will continue even when the power supply drops below 5V.
It will always start from 6V to 35V.
It will often work down to 5V. In most cases, if it works at 5V, it will continue to do so.
If you need to operate loads that run on less than 6V, there are two solutions:
1. Have a look at our YouTube channel, the section about using multiple voltages. You can run the dimmer at 6V and drive a load with a different voltage. This is good for things like 3V dollar-store flicker candles.
2. There is a simple modification, done by adding a jumper wire inside, that changes the device voltage range to 3.6V – 6VDC. When the mod is installed, you *will* damage the unit with voltages over 6V, so caution is advised.
